Providing KidSafe children with opportunities they may not receive on their own is an important component of the KidSafe initiative. Taking children to museums, art galleries, and local theatres are some ways in which KidSafe provides new experiences for our young people. Last year with the help of generous donors KidSafe was able to take children to Olympic ceremonies and events, plays at the local theatre The Clutch and Granville Island’s Arts Club, and ticket donations from Ballet BC. Girls from the GEMS program were there when Ashleigh McIvor received the gold medal and were inspired to say the least.
When I asked her why she was smiling so big during the Canadian anthem as Ashleigh received her medal. Adjha told me it was because she was so proud to live in Canada.
