National Volunteer Week Profile: Mealshare’s Rob Watson

Happy National Volunteer Week! This week, we’re excited to profile a few of the amazing volunteers who make KidSafe’s programs possible!

Rob Watson is the Community Leader at Mealshare, an organization that provides critical funding and volunteer expertise to KidSafe’s meal program. On May 10, Rob and the team at Mealshare will host “Tonight for Tomorrow,” an evening of purposeful dining where every $1 dollar spent on food equals $1 being donated to Mealshare and it’s charitable partners, including KidSafe!

A regular volunteer at KidSafe’s programs, Rob kindly shared his perspectives on volunteering!

Question: Why is volunteering important to you?
Rob: Volunteering is important to me because it is a way for me to connect with my community, and to do my part to help it grow and make it better. It is a simple thing, but a little bit of help can go a long way.

Q: What is your favourite part about volunteering with KidSafe?
Rob: My favourite part about volunteering with KidSafe is being able to personally connect with the kids and to see the direct impact that Mealshare has. Mealshare is an organization with many moving parts, but to actually be able to hand that kid their meal is exactly why we do what we do. I love the partnership that Mealshare has with KidSafe!

Q: How has volunteering impacted your life?
Rob: Volunteering has many positive impacts, but to put it simply, helping out and giving back makes me feel happy. It may seem selfish, but by helping others, I am really helping my self as well. It allows me to gain perspective and to see what is really important. It is an amazing way to start your day!

On behalf of KidSafe, thank you for your amazing contributions, Rob!
